Removal & Installation (Side Impact)

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. For driver side impact air bag module, see ZONE 7 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.. For passenger side impact air bag module, see ZONE 9 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM..
Remove applicable front seat. Loosen J-clip from lower edge of lower seat back. Remove seat back cover. Remove side impact air bag module nuts. See Fig 4. Make note of side impact air bag module pigtail wire harness routing for use during installation.
Remove side impact air bag module pigtail wire harness retaining clips. Carefully pull pigtail harness up into seat back while guiding harness through seat frame. Remove side impact air bag module from seat.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure side impact air bag harness is routed correctly. Tighten side impact air bag module nuts and seat mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system. For passenger side impact air bag module, see ZONE 9 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.. For driver side impact air bag module, see ZONE 7 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM..
