Inspect for the following conditions:
- Excessive oil in combustion chamber or leaking valve seals. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
- Low cylinder compression. See ENGINE COMPRESSION TEST in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 5.7L CORVETTE article.
- Combustion chambers for excessive carbon buildup. Clean chambers using Top Engine Cleaner. Follow the instructions on the can.
- Incorrect basic engine parts.
- Cylinder Heads
- Camshaft
- Pistons, etc.
