Engine Mechanical

  1. Inspect for excessive oil in the combustions chamber-leaking valve seals. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
  2. Incorrect cylinder compression. See ENGINE COMPRESSION TEST in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 5.7L CORVETTE article.
  3. Inspect the combustion chamber for excessive carbon buildup. Clean using Top Engine Cleaner. Follow instructions on can.
  4. Inspect the following for incorrect basic engine parts:
    • Camshafts
    • Cylinder Heads
    • Pistons, etc.
