Hydraulic Valve Lifters: Inspection

  1. Check for nicks, burrs or scoring on parts. Ensure lifter roller operates smoothly without excessive play and contains no flat spots.
  2. Measure lifter oil clearance. If necessary, replace lifter with .010" (.25 mm) oversize lifter if resulting oil clearance allows.
