Engine Lift Brackets: Removal

- Disconnect both the battery negative cables from the batteries. If equipped with rear A/C discharge the A/C system. See RECOVERY/EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in HVAC. If non rear A/C equipped, the compressor can be positioned without discharging the A/C system. Remove the rear A/C pipe from the compressor.
- Remove the air conditioning compressor from the engine lift bracket (if equipped), and position to the side. Remove the upper fan shroud from the radiator. Remove the drive belt from the pulleys. See DRIVE BELT . Remove the idler pulley assembly the engine lift bracket. Remove the auxiliary generator (if equipped) from the engine lift bracket.
- Drain the cooling system. See DRAINING & FILLING COOLING SYSTEM . Remove the engine cooling fan from the vehicle. Remove the thermostat housing crossover from the cylinder heads. See THERMOSTAT HOUSING CROSSOVER . Remover the power steering pump from the engine lift bracket. The pump with the rear bracket can remain on the engine. Remove the bolts from the engine lift bracket. Remove the engine lift bracket from the engine block.
