Oil Pan: Installation

However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply a 1/16" (2 mm) bead of RTV sealant GM P/N 12346286 to the oil pan rear seal at the inside corners where the seal meets the rear main bearing cap on the block. Install the oil pan rear seal to the rear main bearing cap before the sealer starts to dry. Apply a 3/16" (5 mm) bead of RTV sealant GM P/N 12346286 to the oil pan sealing surface, inboard of the bolt holes. Install the pan before the sealer starts to dry.
  2. Install the oil pan to the engine. Install the oil pan bolts. See Figure. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the oil pan drain plug. Tighten the oil pan drain plug to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the transmission oil cooler lines to the retainer. Lower the vehicle. Install the engine oil level indicator and tube. See OIL LEVEL INDICATOR & TUBE . Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Change the engine oil and oil filter. See ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
