Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Perform powertrain diagnostic system check. See POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing powertrain diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM. Turn ignition on, engine off. Observe MIL. If MIL is illuminated, go to next step. IF mill is not illuminated, go to step  5.
  3. Remove Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Check Brown/White wire between IPC and PCM. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  6. If problem was not, go to next step.
  4. Replace IPC. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. After repairs, go to step  6.
  5. Replace PCM. Program PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. After repairs, go to next step.
  6. Operate system to verify repair.
