DTC P1258: Engine Coolant Temperature High: Description

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor to monitor engine for an over temperature condition. This condition occurs when coolant temperature is more than 270°F (132°C). When an over temperature condition is present, DTC P1258 will set. PCM will disable two groups of four cylinders by turning off fuel injectors. By switching between two groups of cylinders, PCM is able to reduce temperature of coolant.
