Fuel Tank Draining

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
CAUTION: Lubricate the fuel drain hose with Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant (J-36850) or equivalent to aid in hose insertion. DO NOT use an unapproved lubricant.

Remove the fuel filler cap. Install the Fuel Flapper Door Holder (J-42960-2) into the fuel fill pipe in order to hold the door open. Insert the Fuel Drain Hose (J-45004) into the fuel tank until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank. Use an air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
