Throttle Body: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly. Install a NEW gasket. Install the throttle body assembly. See Fig 1. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts. Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Connect the throttle body coolant by-pass hoses. Connect the heater pipe nut at the throttle body. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Reconnect the IAT sensor connector.
  3. Refill the coolant and bleed system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM. The throttle should operate freely without binding between full and closed position.
  4. Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also inspect for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
