WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Drain the engine oil into an appropriate container. Install the oil pan drain plug. Tighten the oil pan drain plug to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove the lower transaxle flange-to-oil pan bolts. Leave one bolt on each side of the oil pan while separating from the engine block. Remove the oil pan bolts. See Fig 1.
CAUTION: When removing the oil pan, use only designated pry points to prevent damage to the sealing flange.
  2. Using RTV Cutter (SA9123E), break the oil pan loose from the engine block. Use pry points to break loose the seal. See Fig 1. Bump the pan with a rubber mallet to loosen the pan from the engine block. Remove the oil pan. Clean sealer material from the block and oil pan assembly.
  3. Clean the oil pan and engine block sealing flanges with a chlorinated solvent such as carburetor spray cleaner, brake clean, or alcohol (P/N 21007432).
