Installation (Right)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Whenever the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) is removed, coat the threads with nickel-based Anti-Seize Compound (SA P/N 21485279) or equivalent. NEVER use silicon products, silicon products will cause damage to HO2S.
  1. If the manifold is being replaced, transfer Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) to the manifold. Tighten the HO2S-to-exhaust manifold pipe to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install the NEW manifold gasket on the cylinder head. Install exhaust manifold. Install exhaust manifold nuts except for the outer nuts that will hold the heat shield to the manifold. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install exhaust manifold heat shield. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts and bolt. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts and bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect the HO2S harness connector near the rear of the engine.
    CAUTION: DO NOT allow the stud to rotate when removing or installing the right hand stabilizer nut.
  3. Install the right hand stabilizer bar-to-frame bolts. See Figure. Tighten the stabilizer bar-to-frame bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Secure the stud with a wrench while removing or installing the nut to prevent damage to the link. Install the NEW nuts to left and right stabilizer bar links. Tighten the stabilizer bar link nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install the rear exhaust manifold down pipe assembly. See Fig 1. Tighten rear pipe-to-manifold nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Lower the vehicle. Attach the HO2S electrical connector to bracket. Install the middle exhaust manifold nut. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Re-position the purge valve to the intake manifold. Install the outlet resonator/duct assembly into position. Tighten the clamp at the throttle body assembly into position.
  6. Position the outlet resonator/air cleaner duct assembly-to-support bracket and install the bolts. Tighten outlet resonator/air cleaner duct assembly-to-support bracket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten the clamp at the air cleaner assembly.
