DTC P1639: 5-Volt Reference "B" Circuit: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The PCM uses the 5-volt reference "B" circuit as a sensor feed for the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor and Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor. The PCM monitors the voltage on the 5-volt reference "B" circuit. If the voltage is out of tolerance, the PCM will set DTC P1639.
