Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM in ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the left spark plug wires. Refer to SPARK PLUG WIRE REPLACEMENT in ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, OVERHAUL .
  3. Remove the thermostat bypass hose and the pipe. Refer to THERMOSTAT BYPASS PIPES REPLACEMENT in ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM .
  4. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve from the left valve rocker arm cover.
  5. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  6. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover.

  7. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  8. Clean the valve rocker arm cover.
  9. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket mating surfaces.
