Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply sealant to the keyway of the balancer. Use sealant GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent.
  2. Install the crankshaft balancer. Use the J 29113.
  3. Remove the J 29113.
  4. Install the J 37096 to the flywheel to prevent flywheel rotation.

  5. Install the crankshaft balancer washer and the bolt.

    Tighten: 

    Tighten the bolt to 103 N.m (76 ft lbs)

  6. Remove the J 37096 from the flywheel.
  7. Raise the frame to the original position.
  8. Install and tighten the frame bolts.
  9. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE in BODY FRONT END .
  10. Install the right front tire and wheel.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  13. Perform a CKP system variation learn procedure. Refer to CKP SYSTEM VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE in ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, OVERHAUL .
