Accumulator & 2-1 Manual Servo: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the oil pan and filter. See DRAINING & REFILLING  under LUBRICATION.
  3. Remove the accumulator bolts. See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo cover bolts.
  5. Use a large flat-blade tool in order to gently pry the lube oil pipe retainer from the case. See Fig 2 .
  6. Remove the lube oil pipe from the front differential carrier internal gear lube hole.
  7. Remove the accumulator. See Fig 3 .
  8. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo cover.
  9. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo. See Fig 4 .
  10. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo cover gasket.
  11. To disassemble, inspect and service the accumulator and 2-1 manual servo, see appropriate OVERHAUL article.
