Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing door system diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe KEY CYLINDER UNLOCK parameter. If scan tool indicates key cylinder unlock parameter as OFF, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate key cylinder unlock parameter as OFF, go to step  4 .
  3. Activate a door lock cylinder switch while observing KEY CYLINDER UNLOCK parameter on scan tool. If scan tool indicates key cylinder unlock parameter changes state, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If scan tool does not indicate key cylinder unlock parameter changes state, go to step  7 .
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver door lock cylinder switch harness connector. It may be necessary to remove door trim panel for access to driver door lock cylinder switch harness connector. See DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe KEY CYLINDER UNLOCK parameter. If scan tool indicates key cylinder unlock parameter as OFF, go to step  8 . If scan tool does not indicate key cylinder unlock parameter as OFF, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect driver door lock cylinder switch harness connector. Disconnect front passenger door lock cylinder switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe KEY CYLINDER UNLOCK parameter. If scan tool indicates key cylinder unlock parameter as OFF, go to step  8 . If scan tool does not indicate key cylinder unlock parameter as OFF, go to next step.
  6. Check for short to ground in Light Green wire between BCM harness connector C3 terminal B3 and driver door lock cylinder switch harness connector terminal "A". BCM is located under left side of instrument panel, above parking brake. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  11 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
  7. Check for poor connection at BCM harness connector C3. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  11 . If no problem is found, go to step  9 .
  8. Check for poor connection at appropriate door lock cylinder switch harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  11 . If no problem is found, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace and program BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repair, go to step  11 .
  10. Replace appropriate door lock cylinder switch. See DOOR LOCK CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  11. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within conditions for running DTC as specified in CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  . If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
