Removal (3.4L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and 2003 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain coolant into approved container.
  2. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness connector.
  3. Disconnect the breather tube from the air intake tube. See Fig 1 . Remove the air intake tube.
  4. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve harness connector.
  5. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor harness connector.
  6. Disconnect the accelerator controls cable from the throttle lever and accelerator bracket. See Fig 2 .
  7. If applicable connect the cruise control cable to the throttle lever and accelerator bracket. See Fig 3 .
  8. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the accelerator cable bracket to the throttle body. Remove the accelerator cable bracket. See Fig 4 .
  9. Disconnect the throttle body coolant bypass hoses.
  10. Disconnect the heater pipe nut at the throttle body.
  11. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the throttle body to the intake manifold. Remove the throttle body assembly. See Fig 5 .
