Removal (2.2L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and 2003 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis correspond to numbered components in referenced illustrations.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove air cleaner outlet resonator, air cleaner intake duct and vent hose from throttle body.
  2. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  .
  3. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve harness connector.
  4. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor harness connector.
  5. Disconnect the vacuum hoses at the throttle body.
  6. Disconnect the cruise control cable (2) from the throttle body (3) and the accelerator bracket (1). See Fig 1 .
  7. Disconnect the cruise control cable (2) from the throttle body (3) and the accelerator bracket (1). See Fig 2 .
  8. Remove the 2 accelerator bracket nuts (3). See Fig 3 .
  9. Remove the accelerator bracket (2) from the throttle body (1). See Fig 3 .
  10. Remove the throttle body attaching bolts and studs (1). See Fig 4 .
  11. Remove the throttle body (4) from the intake manifold.
