DTC B0252: Mode Door Position Signal

NOTE: The numbers below refer to the step numbers of the diagnostic procedure.
  1. - Tests for the proper operation of the circuit in the high voltage range.
  2. - Tests for the proper operation of the circuit in the low voltage range. If the fuse in the jumper opens when you perform this test, the signal circuit is shorted to voltage.
  3. - Tests for a short to ground in the 5 volt reference circuit.
  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing system check, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe HTR/DEF/A/C DOOR ACTUAL parameter in INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE data list. If scan tool indicates HTR/DEF/A/C DOOR ACTUAL parameter is within 13-250 counts (0.25-4.9 volts), inspect wiring and connectors for intermittent loose wires and/or poor connections. Also check for a disconnected or broken door/linkage. If scan tool indicates HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR ACTUAL parameter is not within 13-250 counts (0.25-4.9 volts), go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect mode actuator. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR ACTUAL parameter. If scan tool indicates HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR ACTUAL parameter is more than 250 counts (4.9 volts), go to next step. If HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR ACTUAL parameter is 250 counts or less, check for short to ground between ground and terminal No. 9 (Yellow/Black wire) of mode actuator harness connector. Repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between mode actuator and terminal A2 of Instrument Panel Module (IPM). Go to step  9. If circuit is okay, check for poor connections at IPM. Repair as needed and go to step  9. If connections are okay, replace IPM. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE (IPM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  9.
  4. Turn ignition off. Connect 3-amp. jumper wire between terminals No. 7 (Yellow wire) and No. 9 (Yellow/Black wire) of mode actuator harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR (ACTUAL) parameter. If scan tool indicates HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR (ACTUAL) parameter is less than 13 counts (.25 volts), go to next step. If HTR./DEF./A/C DOOR (ACTUAL) parameter is 13 counts (.25 volts) or more, go to step  8.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect jumper wire. Reconnect jumper wire between terminals No. 10 (Gray wire) and No. 9 (Yellow/Black wire) of mode actuator harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe HTR./DEF./A/C DR ACTUAL parameter. If scan tool indicates HTR./DEF./A/C DR ACTUAL parameter is more than 250 counts (4.9 volts), go to step  7. If HTR./DEF./A/C DR ACTUAL parameter is 250 counts (4.9 volts) or less, go to next step.
  6. Check for short to ground between ground and terminal No. 10 (Gray wire) of mode actuator harness connector. If short exists, repair Gray wire between mode actuator and terminal A1 of IPM. Go to step  9. If circuit is okay, check for loose wires and/or poor connections at IPM. If wiring and connectors are okay, replace IPM. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE (IPM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  9.
  7. Check for short to voltage, open or high resistance in Gray wire between ground and terminal No. 10 of mode actuator harness connector. Repair as necessary and go to step  9. If circuit is okay, check for misaligned mode actuator, broken or binding linkages, an obstruction, or missing or misaligned seals at mode door actuator. Repair as necessary and go to step  9. If no problems are found, check for poor connections at mode actuator harness connector. Repair as necessary and go to step  9. If connections are okay, replace mode actuator. See MODE ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  9.
  8. Check for short to voltage, open or high resistance in Yellow/Black wire between terminal No. 9 of mode actuator and terminal A2 of IPM. Repair as necessary and go to step  9. If circuit is okay, check for open or high resistance in Yellow wire between terminal No. 7 of mode actuator and terminal A7 of IPM. Repair as necessary and go to step  9. If circuit is okay, check for loose wires and/or poor connections at IPM. If wiring and connectors are okay, replace IPM. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE (IPM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  9.
  9. Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Operate vehicle and verify that DTCs do not reset. If DTCs reset, return to step  2. If DTCs do not reset, system is okay.
