Disabling System (Explorer Sport)

  1. Record preset radio frequencies for reprogramming (if equipped). Move and tilt seats to their highest and most forward position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove driver air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  3. Remove passenger air bag module. See PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to passenger's air bag vehicle harness connector (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  4. Remove rear quarter trim panels. Disconnect passenger side seat belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to seat belt retractor pretensioner vehicle harness connector. See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Repeat procedure for driver side seat belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector. Connect negative battery cable.
