Activating System (Explorer Sport)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy. Remove air bag simulator from clockspring connector at top of steering column. Install driver's air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE .
  2. Remove air bag simulator from passenger air bag vehicle harness connector. Connect passenger air bag module harness connector. Install passenger air bag module. See PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE .
  3. On models with side air bags, remove air bag simulator from passenger side air bag vehicle harness connector. Connect side air bag to vehicle harness connector. Repeat procedure for driver side air bag.
  4. Reconnect negative battery cable. Recheck system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Reprogram radio preset frequencies and set clock.
