Rear Mount Bracket: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the stabilizer shaft. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove the lower intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt. See Fig 2 . Discard the bolt.
  4. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear.
  5. Disconnect the left outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. See Figure . See OUTER TIE ROD END  .
  6. Remove the steering gear mounting bolts. See Fig 3 .
  7. Secure the steering gear upward for clearance.
  8. Remove the rear transaxle mount. See Figure . See REAR MOUNT  .
  9. On FWD models, remove the rear transaxle mount bracket to transaxle bolts. See Fig 4 .
  10. On AWD models, remove the rear transaxle bracket to power take-off bolts. See Fig 5 .
  11. On all models, remove the rear transaxle mount bracket.
