Front Cover: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Drain engine oil. Remove front crankshaft damper. Remove accessory drive belt tensioner. Unbolt power steering pump, and position aside with hoses attached.
  2. Remove thermostat by-pass pipe. Disconnect lower radiator hose from water pump. Remove water pump pulley. Remove upper and lower crankshaft position sensor wiring harness brackets from front cover. Remove front cover retaining bolts. Remove front cover and gasket. See Figure.
