Oil delivery system supplies oil to crankshaft journals first. See Fig 1. Oil from main bearings is then supplied to connecting rod bearings through intersecting passages in crankshaft. Passages in crankshaft main bearings supply oil to camshaft bearings through vertical drilled holes. Oil passages from camshaft journals supply oil to hydraulic lifters. Lifters pump oil through push rods to rocker arms. Oil drains back and is directed by cast dams in crankcase casting to supply camshaft lobes. Cam chain drive is lubricated by indirect oil splash.
