Test W: Rear Hatch Ajar Message Inoperative
NOTE:
Rear hatch ajar switch may also be referred to as liftgate lock ajar indicator switch. Liftgate door lock ajar indicator switch is part of liftgate lock assembly.
- If REAR HATCH AJAR message description and operation has not been reviewed, see REAR HATCH AJAR under INDICATORS/MESSAGES under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If REAR HATCH AJAR message description and operation has been reviewed, go to next step.
- Observe message center. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. If charging system indicator illuminates during bulb check, go to next step. If charging system indicator does not illuminate during bulb check, go to step 4 .
- Test Pink/Black wire between Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector C1 terminal "K" and liftgate lock ajar indicator switch harness connector C1 terminal "B" for high resistance or an open. See Figure and Fig 1 . If no problem is found, go to step 5 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Test Black wire between ground and liftgate lock ajar indicator switch harness connector C1 terminal "D" for high resistance or an open. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Check for poor connections at liftgate ajar indicator switch harness connector. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Replace liftgate lock assembly. See LIFTGATE LOCK ASSEMBLY . After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
