Test O: Door Ajar Indicator Malfunction
- If door ajar indicator description and operation has not been reviewed, see DOOR AJAR under INDICATORS/MESSAGES under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If door ajar indicator description and operation has been reviewed, go to next step.
- Verify DOOR AJAR indicator malfunction fault exists. If DOOR AJAR indicator malfunction exists, go to next step. If DOOR AJAR indicator malfunction does not exist, check for an intermittent or poor connections in related circuits. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS .
- If DOOR AJAR indicator is inoperative, go to next step. If DOOR AJAR indicator is not inoperative, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. Connect a test light between ground and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector C1 terminal "F" (Yellow wire). See Figure . If DOOR AJAR indicator and test light illuminate, go to next step. If DOOR AJAR indicator and test light do not illuminate, go to step 9 .
- Test Yellow wire between suspect door ajar switch harness connector and IPC harness connector C1 terminal "F" for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Test Black wire between suspect door ajar switch harness connector and ground for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Test Yellow wire between suspect door ajar switch harness connector and IPC harness connector C1 terminal "F" for a short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Check for poor connections at suspect door ajar switch harness connector. If no problem is found, go to step 10 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Check for poor connections at IPC harness connector C1. If no problem is found, go to step 11 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Replace suspect door lock cylinder. See DOOR LOCK CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 12 .
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
