Hydraulic Brakes Diagnostic System Check
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform TEST F: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. Try to establish scan tool communication with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If communication with both modules is established, go to next step. If communication with both modules is not established, perform TEST E: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Select DISPLAY DTC function for EBCM and IPC. Record all displayed DTCs and status of displayed DTCs. If any DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, repair BRAKE indicator concern by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYMPTOM INDEX under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", perform TEST E: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If scan tool displays DTC B1000, perform DTC B1000: CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
