Fuel Level Sensor: Installation
CAUTION:
Care should be taken not to fold over or twist fuel pump strainer when installing fuel sender assembly, as this will restrict fuel flow. Ensure fuel pump strainer does not block full travel of float arm.
- Install fuel level sensor to fuel sender assembly. Position new fuel sender assembly seal on fuel tank. Install fuel sender assembly into fuel tank. Using Fuel Sender Wrench (J-39348), install fuel sender assembly retaining ring. Connect quick-connect fittings at fuel sender assembly.
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fuel tank retaining strap bolts to 35 ft. lbs. (47.5 N.m). Tighten fuel tank filler vent hose clamp and fuel tank filler pipe hose clamp to 2.2 INCH lbs. (2.5 N.m).
- Inspect for fuel leaks using following procedure:
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off for 2 seconds.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position, and check for fuel leaks.
