Circuit Description

Driver Information Center (DIC) applies 5 volts to ambient air temperature sensor. Ambient air temperature sensor is a thermistor which varies in resistance as temperature changes. As resistance of ambient air temperature sensor increases, DIC senses a larger voltage drop across the sensor, indicating a lower temperature. As resistance of ambient air temperature sensor decreases, DIC senses a smaller voltage drop across the sensor, indicating a higher temperature.

DTC B0162 will set when DIC senses temperature less than -40°F (-40°C) for more than 2 seconds. When DTC B0162 sets, "OC" is displayed by DIC in compass/temperature mode.

A current DTC B0162 becomes a history DTC if condition for setting DTC is no longer present. A history DTC B0162 will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if condition for setting DTC is no longer present. DTC will also clear when scan tool is used to clear DTCs.
