Description & Operation: Indicators/Messages: Security

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) illuminates SECURITY indicator in message center as determined by Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) system. SECURITY indicator illuminates if IPC receives a class 2 message from the theft deterrent control module requesting illumination. VTD system requests IPC to illuminate SECURITY indicator only when ignition switch is in RUN position. VTD system uses SECURITY indicator as a malfunction indicator. Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system uses theft indicator (on the dash) and does not use SECURITY indicator.
