Test D: Traction Off Indicator Inoperative
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe TCS warning light parameter in the TCS data list or ETS warning light parameter in ETS data list. If scan tool displays OFF, go to next step. If scan tool does not display OFF, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Observe TRACTION OFF indicator on instrument panel during bulb check. If indicator light illuminates, then turn off during the bulb check, go to next step. If indicator light does not illuminate during the bulb check, go to step 11 .
- Turn ignition off. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe TCS switch parameter in the BCM data list. Activate traction control switch. If TCS switch parameter changes state, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If state of TCS switch parameter does not change, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect traction control switch connector. Connect a fused jumper from signal circuit of traction control switch to ground circuit of traction control switch. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe TCS switch parameter. If scan tool displays ON, go to step 9 . If scan tool does not display ON, go to next step.
- Check traction control switch signal circuit for open or high resistance. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 16 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check traction control switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 16 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check for poor connections at BCM harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 16 . If connections are okay, go to step 12 .
- Check for poor connections at traction control switch harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 16 . If connections are okay, go to step 13 .
- Check for poor connections at EBCM harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 16 . If connections are okay, go to step 14 .
- Check for poor connections at IPC harness connector. After repairs, go to step 16 . If connections are okay, go to step 15 .
- Replace BCM. Program replacement BCM. After replacing BCM, go to step 16 .
- Replace traction control switch. After replacing switch, go to step 16 .
- Replace EBCM. After replacing EBCM, go to step 16 .
- Replace IPC. After replacing IPC, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If repair did not correct problem, go to step 2 .
