Diagnostic Procedure
- If power seat system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat system diagnostic system check has not be performed, perform POWER SEAT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is, located below instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure. Using scan tool, operate seat adjuster motor through the full range of adjustment in both directions. If seat adjuster motor does not operate through full range of adjustment, go to next step. If seat adjuster motor operates through full range of adjustment, problem may be intermittent. Check for intermittent or poor connections. Repair as necessary. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Disconnect seat adjuster motor Black 6-pin harness connector. Connect a test light between appropriate motor supply circuits. See SEAT ADJUSTER MOTOR CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION (WITH MEMORY SEATS) . See Fig 1. Using scan tool, command appropriate adjuster motor active in both directions. If test light does not illuminate and turn off with each command, go to next step. If test light illuminates and turn off with each command, go to step 5.SEAT ADJUSTER MOTOR CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION (WITH MEMORY SEATS)
Application Terminal (Wire Color) Horizontal Motor Forward Control A (Tan) Horizontal Motor Rearward Control B (Dark Green) Front Vertical Motor Up Control Driver's Seat C (Brown) Passenger's Seat C (Gray) Front Vertical Motor Down Control Driver's Seat D (White) Passenger's Seat D (Red) Rear Vertical Motor Up Control E (Yellow) Rear Vertical Motor Down Control Driver's Seat F (Dark Green) Passenger's Seat F (Black) - Check for short to ground, open, high resistance or short to voltage in suspect adjuster motor supply circuits between suspect adjuster motor and MSM harness connector C4. See SEAT ADJUSTER MOTOR CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION (WITH MEMORY SEATS) . See Fig 1 and Fig 2
. If all circuits are okay, go to step 6. If any circuit is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair go to step 9.

- Check suspect adjuster motor connector for damage, intermittent or poor terminal contact. If connector and terminal contact is okay, go to step 7. If terminal contact is okay, repair as necessary. After repair go to step 9.
- Check MSM connectors for damage, intermittent or poor terminal contact. If connector and terminal contact is okay, go to step 8. If connector or terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair go to step 9.
- Replace suspect adjuster motor assembly. After repair go to step 9.
- Replace MSM. After repair go to step 9.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate system to verify fault no longer exists. If DTC resets, go to step 2.
