Diagnostic Procedure

If power seat system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat system diagnostic system check has not be performed, perform POWER SEAT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure. Using scan tool, monitor SEAT ADJUSTER SWITCH STATUS in MEMORY SEAT MODULE data list. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, problem may be intermittent. Check for intermittent or poor connections. Repair as necessary. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
Disconnect seat adjuster switch Black 10-pin harness connector. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to step 5.
Check for short to voltage in suspect switch signal circuit between appropriate switch and MSM. If switch signal circuit is okay, go to step 6. If switch signal is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9.
Check seat adjuster switch connector for damage, intermittent or poor terminal contact. If seat adjuster connector and terminal contact is okay, go to step 7. If seat adjuster switch connector and terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9.
Check MSM connector for damage, intermittent or poor terminal contact. If MSM connector is okay, go to step 8. If MSM connector or terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 9.
Replace seat adjuster switch. After repair, go to step 9.
Replace MSM. After repair, go to next step.
Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate system to verify power seats operate properly. If power seats do not operate properly, go to step 2.
