Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If power seat system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat system diagnostic system check has not be performed, perform POWER SEAT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure. Using scan tool, monitor memory switch parameter in Memory Seat Module (MSM) data list. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE, go to next test. If scan tool displays ACTIVE, problem may be intermittent. Check for intermittent and poor connections. Repair as necessary. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  3. Disconnect memory seat switch Natural 5-pin harness connector. Using scan tool, monitor memory set switch parameter. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool displays ACTIVE, go to step  5.
  4. Check for short to ground in appropriate memory seat switch signal circuit (White wire if memory 1 or Purple wire if memory 2) between memory seat switch and MSM harness connector C2. If circuit is okay, go to step  6. If circuit is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9.
  5. Check memory seat switch connector for damage, intermittent or poor terminal contact. If connector and terminal contact is okay, go to step  7. If connector or terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9.
  6. Check MSM connector C2 for damage, intermittent or poor terminal contact. If connector and terminal contact is okay, go to step  8. If connector or terminal contact are not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9.
  7. Replace memory seat switch. After repair, go to step  9.
  8. Replace MSM. After repair, go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate system to verify fault no longer exists. If DTC resets, go to step  2.
