Test P: Fog Light Indicator Always On

  1. Check operation of exterior lights. If exterior lights are operating properly, go to next step. If exterior lights are not operating properly, repair exterior light system as necessary. See appropriate EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. Turn headlight switch to HEAD position. Turn headlight dimmer switch to low beam position. Turn fog light switch to OFF position. If fog lights do not illuminate, go to next step. If fog lights illuminate, repair fog light system as necessary. See appropriate HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
  3. Observe fog light indicator in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If fog indicator illuminates, go to next step. If fog light indicator does not illuminate check for an intermittent or poor connections in related circuits. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  .
  4. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  5. Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
