Removal & Installation

  1. Release parking brake. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. If brake drum is difficult to remove, back off automatic adjustment pawl. Insert two 8-mm bolts into drum and tighten until drum comes off.
  2. Remove return springs and hold-down clips. Disconnect parking brake cable. Remove brake shoes. See Fig 1 . To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust rear brakes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES  under ADJUSTMENTS.
