Diagnostic Aids

DTC is most likely to set during city driving. Avoid operating vehicle for long periods of time on the highway to validate DTC. Check for loose or missing fuel filler cap, cracked or punctured EVAP canister, damaged or disconnect source vacuum line, EVAP purge line, vent hose or fuel tank vapor line, faulty or erratic fuel tank pressure sensor. Repair as necessary.

An intermittent malfunction may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation, or a wire broken inside insulation. Check harness connectors for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, or poor terminal-to-wire connections before component replacement.
