DTC C1217 & C1218: Pump Motor Shorted To Ground Or Motor Ground Open: Diagnosis
- Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . Go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM connector and install Universal Pinout Box (J-39700) and Adapter (J-39700-99) to EBCM connector. Use pinout box to test both ground circuits for opens or high resistance. If ground circuits are okay, go to step 5 . If grounds have opens or high resistance, go to next step.
- Separate EBCM from BPMV. Using DVOM, measure resistance from both motor circuits to BPMV case. Resistance should be more than 5 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, replace EBCM. See BRAKE PRESSURE MODULATOR VALVE & ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using fused jumper wire (40-amp), jumper one side of motor circuit to battery voltage. Using another fused jumper wire (40-amp), jumper other side of motor circuit to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If motor activates, go to next step. If motor does not activate, replace BPMV. See BRAKE PRESSURE MODULATOR VALVE & ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Reconnect EBCM and BPMV. Reconnect EBCM connector. Use scan tool to clear DTC. Drive vehicle at a speed greater than 5 MPH. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
