DTC C1215: Idle Up Circuit Malfunction: Diagnosis
- Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . Go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect EBCM connector. Disconnect PCM connector C1. Connect Universal Pinout Box (J-39700) and Adapter (J-39700-99) to EBCM harness connector. Using DVOM, check for open or short between terminal B1 of EBCM and terminal No. 30 at PCM connector C1 both Pink/Black wire. If Pink/Black wire has an open or short, repair as necessary, then recheck system. If Pink/Black wire does not have an open or short, go to next step.
- Reconnect EBCM and PCM connectors. Raise and support vehicle. Connect scan tool and select IDLE UP TEST. Start and run engine until vehicle reaches operating temperature. With vehicle in Drive, accelerate until vehicle speed is greater than 5 MPH. Release accelerator and command idle up circuit on with scan tool, then use brake pedal to slow vehicle. If engine speed increases to about 1500-2000 RPM, go to step 5 . If engine speed does not increase as indicated, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, check for voltage between ground and idle up signal circuit on pinout box. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, command idle up circuit on. DVOM should read voltage of 0-1 volt. If voltage is not as specified, go to step 7 . If voltage is as specified, go to step 6 .
- Malfunction is not present at this time. Drive vehicle for about 5 minutes, at speed greater than 20 MPH, and recheck system. If DTCs are present, go to ABS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS table under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no DTCs are present, system is okay.
- Replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check for loose connector and terminals at EBCM. If connector and terminals are okay, check for open or short in idle up signal wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wire is okay, replace EBCM and recheck system. See BRAKE PRESSURE MODULATOR VALVE & ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
