Trim Covers, Shift Lever Seal - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column shift Export)

Tools Required 

J 41352  Modular Column Holding Fixture

  1. Install the upper trim cover (2) onto the steering column.
  2. Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

    Screw the 2 TORX® head screws (1) into the upper trim cover (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the 2 TORX® head screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).

  4. Install the trim cover protector (1) onto the lower trim cover (2).

  6. Install the shift lever seal (2) into the shift lever (4).
  7. Install the shift lever assembly (4) into the steering column.
  8. Install the shift lever screw (3) into the shift lever assembly (4).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).

  9. Slide the shift lever seal (2) down the shift lever (4).

    IMPORTANT:

    The shift lever seal must seat in the grooves of the shrouds.

  11. Install the lower trim cover onto the upper trim cover.
  12. Match the tab slots on the lower trim cover with the locking tabs on the upper trim cover.
  13. Tilt the lower trim cover up.
  14. Slide the lower trim cover forward until the locking tabs snap into the tab slots.

  16. Screw the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) into the lower trim cover (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the 2 pan head tapping screws to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).

  18. Remove the steering column and J 41352  from the vise.
