Test A: All Gauges Inoperative

  1. Review description and operation prior to performing test. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION  .
  2. Verify that instrument cluster gauges are inoperative. If gauges are inoperative, go to next step. If gauges are operating normally, diagnose intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PRIZM article.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C3. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C3 terminal No. 15 (Brown wire). See Figure . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step  5 .
  4. Repair open in Brown wire between instrument cluster and ground. Ground point is located behind instrument panel, mounted to center support on right side. After repair, go to step  9 .
  5. Disconnect instrument cluster 13-pin harness connector C4. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C4 terminal No. 2 (Brown wire). See Figure . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step  7 .
  6. Repair open in Brown wire between instrument cluster and ground. Ground point is located on rear of cylinder head. After repair, go to step  9 .
  7. Inspect instrument cluster printed circuit for damage. If printed circuit is damaged, go to next step. If printed circuit is not damaged, diagnose intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PRIZM article.
  8. Repair or replace instrument cluster or printed circuit. After repair, go to next step.
  9. Operate system to verify repair. If problem does not exist, system is okay. If problem still exists, go to step  3 .
