Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, repair as necessary. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, diagnose communication problem. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article.
  3. Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCS function for BCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  4. If scan tool displays DTCs U1000-U1305, repair these DTCs first. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article. If scan tool does not display DTCs U1000-U1305, go to next step.
  5. If scan tool displays DTCs B1000, B1369, B1374 or B1379, repair these DTC next. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article. If scan tool does not display DTCs B1000, B1369, B1374 or B1379, go to next step.
  6. If scan tool displays DTCs P0560 or P0620, repair these DTC next. See appropriate GENERATOR & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If scan tool does not display DTCs P0560 or P0620, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  .
