Door Systems Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, repair as necessary. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, diagnose communication problem. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article.
  3. Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCS function for BCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  4. If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with a "U", diagnose communication problem. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article. If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with a "U", go to next step.
  5. If scan tool displays DTCs B1000 or B1001, repair these DTC first. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article. If scan tool does not display DTCs B1000 or B1001, go to next step.
  6. If scan tool displays DTCs B1369, B1374 or B1379, repair these DTC next. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - MALIBU article. If scan tool does not display DTCs B1369, B1374 or B1379, go to next step.
  7. If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with a "P", repair these DTCs next. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with a "P", go to next step.
  8. If scan tool displays any other DTCs, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If scan tool does not display any other DTCs, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
