Ignition Switch: Installation

  1. Install ignition switch to vehicle.
  2. Connect PASS KEY electrical connector to ignition switch housing.
  3. Use key in order to install ignition switch lock cylinder to ignition switch housing.
  4. Perform the following steps below if ignition switch lock cylinder previously removed was seized or would not rotate:
    • Install new ignition switch lock cylinder as required by rotating both cylinder and ignition switch to RUN position.
    • Push ignition switch lock cylinder into ignition switch housing until fully seated.
    • It may be necessary to slightly depress release button as it passes by 9/32 inch hole previously drilled in ignition switch housing.
  5. Connect park lock cable to ignition switch housing.
  6. Connect electrical connectors to ignition switch.
  7. Install ignition switch housing to instrument panel carrier.
  8. Install ignition switch bolts. Tighten bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
  9. Install instrument panel cluster to instrument panel carrier.
  10. Install instrument panel cluster trim plate to instrument panel carrier.
  11. Install upper steering column trim cover to steering column.
  12. Connect cigar lighter harness connector. Install accessory trim plate to instrument panel carrier.
  13. Install ignition switch trim ring to ignition switch.
  14. Enable SIR system.
  15. Connect negative battery cable.
  16. Reprogram body control module (BCM). See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
