Theft System Indicators

Instrument panel cluster illuminates theft system indicator as determined by Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) system. Body Control Module (BCM) sends a message to instrument panel cluster via Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) requesting illumination. VTD system requests instrument panel cluster to illuminate indicator only when ignition switch is in RUN position. VTD system uses indicator as a malfunction indicator. Instrument panel cluster performs display test at start of each ignition cycle as commanded by BCM. Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
