Fasten Safety Belt Indicator

Instrument panel cluster illuminates fasten safety belt indicator when the following occurs:

• Body Control Module (BCM) detects that driver's seat belt is unbuckled. BCM sends a message to instrument panel cluster via Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) requesting illumination. Instrument panel cluster illuminates indicator for 20 seconds and then flashes indicator for 55 seconds. BCM also sends a class 2 message to radio in order to activate an audible warning.
• Instrument panel cluster performs displays test at start of each ignition cycle as commanded by BCM. Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
• Instrument panel cluster detects a loss of SPI communications with BCM.
