Check Oil
Instrument panel cluster illuminates CHECK OIL indicator when the following occurs:
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects a low engine oil level condition (signal circuit is high). PCM only monitors oil level switch signal circuit for a brief period between key on and engine crank. Body Control Module (BCM) receives a class 2 message from PCM requesting illumination. BCM sends a message to instrument panel cluster via Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) requesting illumination. BCM also sends a class 2 message to radio in order to activate an audible warning.
- Instrument panel cluster performs displays test at start of each ignition cycle as commanded by BCM. Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
