Fasten Safety Belt

Radio activates fasten safety belt audible warning as requested by Body Control Module (BCM). BCM sends a class 2 message to radio indicating chime of a slow rate frequency and an 8 second duration. Fasten safety belt warning sounds and fasten safety belt indicator illuminates when the following occurs:

• Ignition switch transitions to RUN position.
• BCM detects that driver's seat belt is not buckled and signal circuit is low. Instrument panel cluster receives a message via serial peripheral interface (SPI) from BCM requesting illumination of seat belt indicator.

If seat belt is buckled when ignition is turned on, chime does not sound. If seat belt is buckled while chime is sounding, chime stops. If seat belt is unbuckled after initial transition to ON, chime does not sound.
