Forward Servo: Removal

  1. Install the engine support fixture. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the power steering rack and pinion and support the power steering rack and pinion from the exhaust pipe. See appropriate POWER RACK & PINION article in STEERING. Remove the transaxle mount lower nuts.
  2. Remove the engine mount lower nuts. Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the right side of the frame. Support the rear of the frame with a jackstand. Loosen the rear frame bolts.
  3. Adjust the jackstand to lower the rear of the frame. Position a drain pan under the forward servo cover. Remove the servo cover bolts. See Fig 1 . Remove cover, O-ring, piston assembly and spring.
